This is a recipe that Hollywood stars eat to regain their pre-baby figures. It can be served either hot or cold and can be prepared in larger batches to make breakfast preparation quick and easy on those busy mornings.
Ingredients:
2 1/2 cups of water
1 cup brown rice
1/2 to 1 tsp cinnamon (according to personal preference)
1/2 cup raisins or other dried fruit
1/4 cup almonds ( can use pecans or walnuts if preferred)
sugarless maple syrup
Soy milk
Preparation:
Bring water to a boil. Add rice, cinnamon, raisins. Bring to simmer and cook for 40-45 minutes or until all liquid is absorbed. Remove from heat and add nuts. You can add syrup at this point to the entire batch or add at each serving. Serve with soy milk or if you prefer, skim or 1% milk.
I like this recipe because it is filling and satisfying. Lots of chewing so takes a while to eat. You can serve warm or cold. Just microwave to reheat and add milk and syrup.
Following is an easy exercise to do while waiting for rice to cook or reheat. It is called "deadweights, and works on the hamstrings to eliminate that dreaded cellulite!
Grab your weights (whatever weight is easy for you to use but remember to increase weights as your ability improves). Hold a weight in each hand with the arms hanging loosely in front of you. Legs relaxed and hip width apart, knees relaxed. Slowly bend until arms are hanging in front of you as close to the floor as you can go. Slowly raise up to starting position. (remember to keep those abs engaged for an added benefit). Do 2 sets of 10-15 reps and increase sets and reps as tolerance improves.
Enjoy!
